The Mulan in red

Summary

A short crossover between Mulan, the animated film, and Mulan 2020.
I am Fa Mulan, Li Shang's close friend, and I'm wearing green today. When I discover a strange large mirror in some ruins, a woman wearing red bursts out of it. Also calling herself Fa Mulan, she draws her sword and her intention is clear: to kill me.

The Mulan in red

I am Fa Mulan, Li Shang's close friend, and I'm wearing green today. When I discover a strange large mirror in some ruins, a woman wearing red bursts out of it. Also calling herself Fa Mulan, she draws her sword and her intention is clear: to kill me.

"Why?" I asked, all the while preparing to dodge her attacks, as I had no weapon with me.

"Because there can only be ONE Fa Mulan!" Said the Other Mulan. "That's what Xian Mei wants!"

"Xian Mei? Who...?"

My words are cut off, as my body has to move to avoid the Mulan in red's sword thrusts. I dodge all her blows, but this Mulan has superhuman abilities. The way she moves, the way she wields her sword. Knowing that Shang isn't far away, I call out to him.

"SHANG! COME QUICKLY AND GIVE ME YOUR SWORD!"

Shang arrives and makes quite a face when he sees me dodge the Other Mulan's blade.

"Who's that?" Shang asks, pointing at the Mulan in red.

"THIS IS NO TIME TO TALK! GIVE ME YOUR SWORD!"

Shang takes his sword out of its scabbard and throws it at me. I catch it and can finally fight the Other Mulan.

After what seems like an eternity, we're both too exhausted to continue the fight.

"So... tell me... who is Xian Mei?" I asked the Other Mulan, despite my fatigue.

The Mulan in red puts away her sword. I place Shang's sword on the ground.

"She's a spirit... a powerful spirit." She explains. "Xian Mei appeared in a large mirror like this one. She explained to me that she comes from the Mirror Worlds. Some Worlds contain a different Mulan, but they are... fake, evil. That's what Xian Mei told me."

"That's not true!" Shang retorts. "Mulan... well, the Mulan I know is a brave, good and humble woman!"

"In the end, Xian Mei told me that I must eliminate all the other Mulans so that only I remain. That's what she wants... for the good of all worlds."

"Well," I said, "it looks like this Xian Mei is an evil spirit. She's using you, Fa Mulan!"

"You... You're probably right... Oh, by my ancestors’ spirits, what have I done?"

"What do you mean by that?"  Shang asks the Mulan in red. "Don't tell me you killed..."

The Other Mulan, covered in shame, lowers her head. We remain silent, then the Mulan in red says she's going to find Xian Mei.

"She will pay for using me, my chi...! For making me commit... those horrible crimes against other me!"

The Other Mulan enters the mysterious great mirror and disappears. Shang retrieves his sword and uses it to shatter the mirror into a thousand pieces.

"That way we won't have any more visitors from the Mirror Worlds." He explains.

"You're right." I say, hugging him.

At least, I hope so. We leave the ruins together.
